The symbol chart in this pattern contains the following symbols:

Chain
(CH)

Single Crochet
(SC)

SC Back Loop
Only (SC BLO)

End Chain
(EC)

The instructions are written in this manner:

1 CH, turn, 6 SC, on the sixth SC, change color to white (pick up from the row before).
20 SC with the white, on the twentieth SC, change color to red (pick up from the row before).
6 SC with the red.
